Officials directed to increase fresh water flow into Bein

Kapurthala, Dec 8 (UNI) Punjab Principal Secretary Irrigation Kusumjit Sidhu today directed the irrigation officials to increase the flow of fresh water into holy Bein from 200 cusecs to 300 cusecs from Mukerian Hydel Channel.

Kusumjit Sidhu accompanied by Chief Engineer Drainage Surinderpal and Deputy Commissioner (DC) Raminder Singh visited the holy Bein at Kanjali picnic spot and was impressed to see the flowing rivulet and the migratory birds in the wet land.

The DC discussed the problem of Kalasingia drain which was choked with affluent of leather complex and other toxic discharge from the factories.

Talking to media persons, Ms Sidhu said the flow of fresh water in the holy Bein would be further increased to 500 cusecs after the widening and deepening of the rivulet.
