Microbiologists conf in Bhopal
Bhopal, Dec 8 (UNI) Applied biotechnology, vaccines, marine microbes, microbial community systematics and evolution were among the topics discussed during the Association of Microbiologists of India's 47th Annual Conference, a three-day affair that concluded here today and incorporated nine sessions.
'Microbiology: The Challenges Ahead' witnessed a plenary lecture by the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre's Dr S K Apte who spoke on the micro-organism Deinococcus. That was followed by a talk on 'Core and Accessory Genomes of Bacteria' by the University of York's Prof Peter Young, a release said.
Other subjects discussed were microbial genomics and proteomics, bimolecules, plant-microbe interaction, bioenergy, biocatalyst, food-borne infections and environmental bioremediation, the release added.
