Metal prices fall on poor industrial demand

Mumbai, Dec 8 (UNI) Metal prices fell on poor industrial demand in line with London Metal Exchange, traders at the Bombay Metal Exchange today said.

In ferrous category, copper heavy and brass cuttings declined by Rs 500 each per quintal while copper utensils, brass utensils and aluminium utensils eased by Rs 300, Rs 200 and Rs 100 per quintal respectivley on sustained heavy selling pressure.

In non-ferrous category, copper wire bars declined by Rs 500 per quintal while aluminium ingots and zinc slab eased by Rs 200 each per quintal on increased offers by stockists. But lead ingots rose by Rs 300 per quintal on better buying support.

Nickel cathode drifted lower by Rs 15 on thin buying support.

Following are the spot metal prices per quintal: Ferrous metals: Copper heavy - Rs 34,800, Copper utensils - Rs 31,800, Brass utensils - Rs 22,600, Brass cuttings - Rs 26,500 and Aluminium utensils - Rs 10,800.

Non-ferrous metals: Copper wire bars - Rs 38,500, Aluminium ingots - Rs 13,800, Zinc slab - Rs 24,100, Lead ingots - Rs 8,100, Tin slab - Rs 585 (per kg) and Nickel cathode - Rs 1,830 (per kg).
