Manjeet Singh kidnapping trial to be disposed by January 31: HC
Mumbai, Dec 8 (UNI) The Bombay High Court today directed the Session Court, conducting the trial of former President of Dance Bar Owners Association Manjeet Singh Sethi, to dispose of the same by January 31.
Sethi's counsel sought the examination of his son Vivek and Sethi himself along with two other defence witnesses and the complainant.
Justice S C Dharmadhikari directed him to appear before the Session Court before December 15.
The court further directed the Session Court to dispose of the application by December 18.
While, the HC earlier had stayed the trial, the same has been vacated today.
Sethi and his son are accused of abducting a man from near the city civil court on January 6, 1997, and taking him to an abandoned garage where they robbed him of Rs 50,000, assaulted and then released him.
Sethi, who earlier faced a breach of privilege motion from the Maharashtra Assembly and was sentenced to 90 days imprisonment, faces a maximum punishment of life imprisonment if convicted in this case.
