Lifer to man in murder case

Madikeri, Karnataka, Dec 8 (UNI) A lower court today sentenced to life imprisonment a person for killing a girl in July, 2003.

The district and sessions judge also slapped a fine of Rs 2,000 on K U Balakrishna of Somwarpet.

The prosecution case was that Balakrishna had waylaid the girl, Meena, inside Jamboor estate near Somwarpet and attacked her with a billhook as she had complained about his character. Meena succumbed to the deep cuts on the spot. Balakrishna had fled the spot with the gold chain in her person.
