Japan's gold medallist out after training crash

DOHA, Dec 8 (Reuters) Women's Asian Games road race gold medallist Mayuko Hagiwara is out of the cycling track programme after a training crash with two of her Japanese team mates, organisers said today.

Hagiwara had been following male cyclists Kei Uchida and Noriyuki Iijima at the Aspire velodrome when Uchida suffered a puncture and fell. Iijima crashed into him and Hagiwara was unable to avoid the pair.

She pulled inner thigh muscles and will be unable to compete in the track endurance events.

Uchida and Iijima suffered minor injuries but should be able to compete, Japanese coach Kimio Fukuda said.
