UP: Police station torched after boy killed

Etah/Lucknow, Dec 8: Irate mob today torched Soro police station in Etah and indulged in heavy brickbatting over recovery of the body of an abducted four-year-old boy.

Police had to open fire in the air to disperse the mob after some policemen were beaten up.

The mob also set afire some vehicles and blocked the Etah-Badaun highway after the incident.

Etah District Magistrate Ram Kumar said tension prevailed in the area and additional police force have been called to control the situation.

Mr Kumar said the mob has also destroyed some important files of the police station along with government property.

The boy, Madhav, son of Dr Kamal Kishore Gupta was kidnapped from Bandaria locality of the city on November 27 and his body was recovered in a sack this morning.

This is the second incident of kidnapped killing in Etah in past one week after a teacher Deepak Gupta was kidnapped and later his body was recovered by the police. On that occasion also, teachers had organised a violent protest against the killing.

Meanwhile, senior police officials in the state capital maintained that the situation in Etah was tense but under control. Additional forces, including PAC, have been rushed to the area.

''We are monitoring the situation and have directed the Zonal IG and range DIG to rush to the spot,'' a senior official added.
