Inflation down to 5.30 per cent
New Delhi, Dec 8: Despite the government's claim to bring the headline annual inflation rate down to below five per cent, it stood at 5.30 per cent for the week ended November 25, however it was considerably low from 5.45 per cent as reported during the previous week due to a decline in food and energy prices.
The inflation rate calculated on a point-to-point basis, stood at 4.48 per cent during the corresponding week of the previous year, according to official figures released here today.
Finance minister P Chidambaram on Wednesday dismissed reports that the Indian economy was overheated, when asked whether the economy was showing signs of overheating in view of the rising inflation.
