Hindus, temples unprotected under DMK regime: BJP
Tiruchirapalli, Dec 8 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu unit of the BJP today alleged that whenever the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) Government headed by M Karunanidhi was in power there was no protection to Hindus and temples.
Talking to newspersons Party state vice-president H Raja, said the ransacking of a mutt of the Sri Kamakoti Kamakshi Charities at Salem and the damaging of a portrait of lord Rama showed that there was least protection to hindus and temples during the DMK rule.
He termed as totally ''absurd and wrong,'' the decision to allow a statue of Dravidian leader Periyar E V Ramasamy Naicker, an atheist, to be installed in a temple town, that too in Srirangam, which was among the 108 important vaishnavite kshetras.
Mr Raja alleged that the Dravida Kazhagam (DK) movement had been always antagonistic to Hindus.
The BJP leader strongly condemned filing of an FIR against Sri Dayananda Saraswathi Swamiji in Srirangam, yesterday.
