Finland pitches for more FDI from India

New Delhi, Dec 8 (UNI) Bullish on Indian investments going to Finland, Invest in Finland (IIF), an organisation helping foreign companies to establish business in that country, has pitched for more Indian participation in the form of FDI.

''Indian ICT companies have invested over 100 million dollars in Finland this year alone to obtain the skills needed to service a new domain,'' IIF's Managing Director Tuomo Airaksinen told UNI here today.

Among the options for investment, Information, Communication and Technology tops the list followed by engineering machinery and auto, he added. ''The Indian companies can use the options as a testing ground for expanding their bussines.'' ''There are no local hurdles or challenges for the companies going there. Most importantly, English is a common language among the Indian workforce,'' Mr Airaksinen said adding that talks are on with companies to help them expand markets and to test new ideas.

Finland is the gateway to get direct access to EU markets without currency risk as the entire region uses Euro as a common currency.

''The country's infrastructure, communication technology and human resources would help equally in establishing a greenfield production facility or innovative projects in a high-tech environment,'' he said.
