Explosives thrown at building near Mangalore
Mangalore, Dec 8 (UNI) A group threw explosives on a building at Farangipet on the outskirts of the city last night following a group clash over celebrating the re-election of former Deputy Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the Chamundeswari Assembly byelection.
Police said heated exchanges were witnessed between the two groups while celebrating the victory by bursting crackers. Later in the night, some miscreants threw explosives on a building, causing a hole on the ground inside the building. However, no one was injured.
Top police officials rushed to the spot soon after the incident.
Elaborate bandobust arrangements have been made to maintain law and order.
Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police B Dayanand told UNI here today that a few people have been apprehended for questioning in this connection. The situation at Farangipet was now peaceful and under control, he added.
