DPCs will start functioning from Jan one: Diwakar
Rajahmundry, Dec 8 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Panchayatraj and Endowments Minister J C Diwakar Reddy today said the District Planning Committees (DPCs) would start functioning from January one in the state.
Talking to reporters here, he said the DPCs would have 18 ZPTC members of the district, six corporators and four nominated members.
The proposed DPCs would draw out developmental programmes and submit a report to the government. After going through the report, the government would decide on the budgetary allocations, he informed.
Referring to the relegation of 29 items power to sarpanches, Mr Reddy said he had called for a meeting of department secretaries and others on December 16 in the regard.
Asked about the extent of endowment land encroached, the minister said a survey was being conducted to find out the exact position.
He said the government had written to the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission to fill the vacant post of assistant commissioners.
