District administration sets Jan 26 as deadline

Vijayawada, Dec 8 (UNI) The Krishna district administration has set January 26, 2007 as deadline for cent per cent enrollment of children in the schools.

The administration, which achieved 100 per cent enrollment of children in 17 mandals in the district so far, was keen to bring back the remaining dropouts to the schools, official sources told UNI here today.

The sources said the administration had sanctioned several Residential Bridge Courses (RBC) under the Sarva Siksha Abhiyan and National Child Labour Project (NCLP) to ensure free and compulsory education for the children below 14 years.

District Collector Navin Mittal had ordered the Mandal Education Officers to ensure that no child was engaged in labour either in domestic or agriculture sector.
