Cong, EC tie-up led to Siddaramaiah's win: HDK

Mysore, Dec 8: Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy todayalleged that the Congress had a tie-up with the Election Commission andthat led to the win of former Deputy Chief Minister and CongressCandidate S Siddaramaiah in the by election to Chamundeswari Assemblyseat.

Talking to newsmen at Hunsur, near here, Mr Kumaraswamy allegedthat ''the coalition partners in the Government Janata Dal (Secular)and Bharatiya Janata Party fielded a common candidate, where asCongress brought pressure from the Union Government on the ElectionCommission to work in its (Congress) favour.'' Claiming that theslender margin of 257 vote victory for Congress candidate indicatedthat JD(S) has a strong base in the Chamundeswary constituency andwinning and losing in the election are common for Political parties.''There was no necessary for me to tender resignation to Chief Ministerpost for loosing the election'', he added.

Ruling out the possibility of split in the JD(S) following loss inthe election, Mr Kumaraswamy said that '' since the JD(S) and BJPcoalition government came to power, the Congress has been day dreamingof split and fall. It will never become true.'' Mr Kumaraswamy saidthat irrespective of failure in the election, his government wouldcontinue with pro poor programmes and would continue to stay in thevillages to solve the problems of farmers.

Referring to cabinet expansion and appointment of Chairmen tovarious Boards and Corporations, Mr Kumaraswamy said that the processwould start in appropriate time and at right situation.
