CM directs officials to report on irrigation project works

Hyderabad, Dec 8 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today directed the irrigation department officials to frequently visit all the irrigation project sites and report to him on the progress and quality of works.

Reviewing the progress and budget requirements for the lift and micro irrigation projects with the officials here, Dr Reddy instructed the department to take necessary steps to increase acreage through micro irrigation system, an official release said here.

Stating that there was no paucity of funds for the projects, he said the government had decided to allocate Rs 14,000 crore for irrigation projects during 2007-08 as against Rs 13,000 crore decided in the last review meeting.
