China asked to set up IT Mart in Bangalore

Bangalore, Dec 8 (UNI) Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council Chairman P K Sandell today urged China to set up its IT Mart in Bangalore as part of efforts to boost cooperation between the two nations in the booming IT sector.

Addressing a seminar on Sino-Indian IT Cooperation Promotion, he said India could also set up its IT Mart in China to help in sharing its latest information and display of products for mutual benefit.

''The problem is that there is no mechanism for a follow up of our meetings and talks held for the last several years,'' Mr Sandell said, adding that setting up of such marts would help in a big way in promoting cooperation in the IT sector.

He said India was investing huge funds in the power sector in the next five years and it could provide tremendous opportunities for Chinese investors.

Mr Wang Zhengsheng, leading a visiting Nanjing delegation, said Nanjing and Bangalore had many things in common and welcomed Indian companies to investment in China.

He said the Chinese Government had taken many major initiatives to create a favourable atomosphere, with setting up of a software base for foreign investors in Nanjing, which was truly global in its outlook and an open-minded city.

The seminar was organised by the Nanjing Municipal City Government and China-India Software Association.
