BSF moots 20 more battalions to its strength
Bhuj, Dec 8 (UNI) The Border Security Force (BFC) has proposed to add 20 more battalions to its force in the country to check the rising menace of militants, Director-General of BSF A K Mitra said.
Addressing mediapersons here today he said the BSF has sent the proposal to Union Home Ministry. This will cost the exchequer Rs 600 crore, he said.
The BSF has also proposed to procure four new fast-attack aircrafts within a year to strengthen the surveillance of Kutch border, he added.
Mr Mitra said two battalions which were shifted to Punjab from the Kutch border will be posted back. He also said that by repairing floating border outposts in the creek area, BSF would be enhancing its efficiency to 75 per cent.
The BSF has also proposed to dredge the coastal channel in Koteswar port in Kutch at a cost of Rs 54 crore, Mr Mitra said.
