BJP accuses Congress of implicating its leaders
Shimla, Dec 8 (UNI) Six legislators of Himachal Pradesh BJP today accused the state Congress Government of implicating its leaders in false cases and said this was being done to divert the attention of the people from widespread corruption in the state.
Stung by several scams, the government was resorting to arm twisting of the opposition, which was highlighting cases of corruption in the state, legislators Ishwar Dass Dhiman, Ravinder Singh Ravi, Jai Ram Thakur, Baldev Sharma, Virender Kanwar and Satpal Singh Satti alleged in a joint press release here.
The BJP leaders said registration of a case against its Solan MLA Rajiv Bindal in a nine-year case was only an attempt to implicate opposition members in false cases.
Vowing that they would not be cowed down by the state government's action, they said the BJP would continue to highlight corruption cases irrespective of the cases being registered against their party members.
Launching a scathing attack on Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh for giving a clean chit to the HP University in the Combined Pre Medical Test (CPMT) scam, the BJP leaders said by doing so he was only trying to shield the people involved in it.
Without the state High Court's intervention, the scam would have remained wrapped in covers, they said.
They questioned the chief minister for not taking any action against Food and Civil Supplies Minister Singhi Ram after one of his relatives levelled charges of having accumulating properties disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The state government mired in several questionable deeds and corruption charges was trying to divert the people's attention by fostering false cases against the opposition members, they added.
