Anti-AFSPA rally in New Delhi on December 11

Imphal, Dec 8 (UNI) Several organisations here have decided to stage a rally in New Delhi on December 11 demanding repeal of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act,1958, in Manipur.

The organisations also expressed concern over deteriorating health condition of Irom Chanu Sharmila, who has been on fast for over six years, protesting the Armed Forces Act.

They said she was detained by Delhi Police for alleged attempt to end her life by refusing food. She has been kept alive by force feeding at AIIMs, New Delhi, a family sources here said.

They said the rally will be organised by Working Committee of Apunba Lup along with MSAD, PUCL, Jagori, HRLN, LRS, DAMMS, JNSU, AISA, DUSU, FDI, MRFD, PSU and others.

In a stetement they said a sit-in-protest demanding repeal of AFSPA was already organised at Jantar Mantar to focus the plight of Manipur people because of such ''repression'' act.
