Amjad Saif, Manwinder Mishra shine for Sudan

Pune, Dec 8 (UNI) A fine brace by Manwinder Mishra helped Chetak squeak past Indrayani by the odd goal in three (2-1) into the pre-quarter final round of the Surendra Anand Memorial Invitation State Level Football Tournament at Khadki ground here today Anmjad Ali once again displayed his striking prowess scoring three out of five goals netted by Sudan to see them stop Mischief Makers in their stride with a facile 5-1 triumph in the other pre-quarter final round.

Manwinder Mishra drew first blood for Chetak with a fine solo burst in the 45th minute. Their joy was shortlived when Manoj Balakrishnan found the equalizer from an Abhijit cross over.

Manwinder once again displayed his striking prowess when finding the target off a Raju Thakar's pass in the 64th minute for the match winner. Manwinder was adjudged Man of the Match' for his brilliant opportunism.

Amjad Saif had three goals to his credit coming in the 20th, 54th and 66th minutes of play. Eshanm Inar scired tge secibd giak abd Simon Ali completed the tally in the 68th minute. Vinay Varghese notched the consolation goal for the losers in the 35th minute.

The results: Chetak A' 2: (Manwinder Mishra 45, 64) beat Indrayani 1 (Manoj Balkrishnan 47) Sudan XI 5 (Amjad Saif 20, 54, 66 min, Esham Omar 33, Simon Ali 68) beat Mischief Makers 1 (Vinay Verghese 35).
