3 militants among five killed and BSF picket attacked in J and K

Srinagar, Dec 8 (UNI) Five persons, including three militants, were killed and a Border Security Force (BSF) picket was attacked in Jammu and Kashmir overnight, official sources said.

They said security forces gunned down two militants in an encounter at Banihal in Doda district of Jammu region today. Two AK rifles and other arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants.

Another militant was gunned down by the security forces at Kanga Nallah near the Line of Control in Poonch district today, official spokesman said. He said one AK rifle, one pistol, three magzines and one wireless set were recovered from the slain militant.

They said militants shot at and critically wounded one Mohammad Maqbool Wani at Batapora in south Kashmir district of Anantnag last night. Wani was later shifted to a hospital where he was declared brought dead.

Militants abducted one Bashir Ahmad at Bomai, under police station Sopore, in Baramulla district of north Kashmir last night.

His bullet riddled body was recovered at Sampore today.

Sources said militants hurled a hand grenade towards a BSF picket near a bridge at Sopore, about 55 km from here today. It exploded near the picket causing injuries to one jawan who has been hospitalised.

Militants shot at and wounded one Mudasir Ahmad Mir, a 11th class student, at Ashipora Shopian in south Kashmir. He has also been hospitalised.
