3 couriers owing allegiance to CPI (Maoist), PPD held
Vijayawada, Dec 8 (UNI) Three couriers owing allegiance to CPI (Maoist) and Praja Prathigatana Dalam (PPD) were arrested by police at Illendu in Khammam district yesterday.
Illendu Sub-Division Deputy Superintendent of Police Veera Reddy told UNI that Disru, a (CPI) Maoist courier of Balajipet Paplitanda Hamlet was taken into custody on a tip off and recovered a country made pistol from his possession.
Mr Reddy said Sudhakar and Vishu, two PPD couriers were also arrested at Namallapadu village. An 8 mm rifle and literature were recovered from them. The trio were produced in the Illendu Magistrate Court today.
Earlier, three naxalites of PPD were killed in an encounter with police near Regalla village in Khammam.
Khammam district Superintendent of Police R K Meena told UNI that the naxalites opened fire at district special party guards, while they were conducting combing operations at an hillock.
Following the attack, the guards opened fire at the naxals, killing them on the spot.
