2 killed, 5 injured in clash over election dispute in Etah
Etah, Dec 8 (UNI) At least two persons, including former Nagar Panchayat President, were killed and five others injured after two groups clashed over an election dispute in Etah district last night, police today said.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Manoj Bajpai said former Nagar Panchayat President Lokman Singh Sarraf and his rival Dinesh Chand fought over an election dispute in Sakeet town, which soon snowballed into a full-fledged clash.
Lokman Singh and another Umesh were shot dead after the rival groups resorted to firing. The injured identified as Lalit, Anubhav, Satya Prakash and two others were rushed to hospital.
In the recently concluded local body polls, Lokman Singh's wife Radha Devi was chosen as the Sakeet Nagar Panchayat President defeating Dinesh's wife Shashi Rani Yadav.
Meanwhile, police have been deployed to avoid any fresh violence.
