2 hurt in police firing

Chhattarpur(MP), Dec 8 (UNI) Two persons, including an 11-year-old girl, were injured when police opened fire in self defence last night after they were attacked by a group of villagers protesting the arrest of an absconding criminal, police said.

Police said Lochan Singh and Ms Meda, who were injured, were admitted to the hospital here. The condition of the girl was stated to be serious.

The incident took place at Ganeshpura village near Garhi-Malehra when the villagers opposed the arrest of Ramesh Yadav, who was wanted in many cases.

Additional police force had been deployed at the village in view of the tense situation, DIG Vinay Kataria said.
