Rajasthan: Congress wins Dungarpur seat

Jaipur, Dec 7: Congress candidate Punjilal Parmar today won the Dungarpur assembly seat, defeating his nearest BJP rival Surmal Parmar by over 9879 votes.

The Congress candidate polled 49,067 votes while the BJP's nominee polled 39,188 votes after the final round of counting for the bypoll.

The by-election, held on December four, was necessitated by the death of six-time Congress MLA Nathuram Ahari.

Fifty five per cent of the 58,628 strong electorate had exercised its franchise.
