Bypolls win is a victory of Sonia's thoughts: Rane

Nagpur, Dec 7: Maharashtra Minister for Revenue Narayan Rane today said the triumph of Congress nominees in the by-election to the state Legislative Assembly from Chimur and Daryapur constituency in Vidarbha region was a ''win for Sonia Gandhi's thoughts''.

He was speaking to mediapersons here shortly after the results came in, declaring Mr Vijay Wadettiwar from Chimur and Mr Prakash Bharsakle from Daryapur victorious in the polls.

Both, Mr Wadettiwar and Mr Bharsakle are known Rane loyalists, who deserted the Sena and joined the Congress, following in the footsteps of their political mentor, Mr Rane.

These victories would strengthen the Congress in the state, he observed.

Mr Rane however, declined to predict who would be the leader of the opposition in the Assembly, now that the Congress had won the two by-elections.

''I am not an astrologer,'' he quipped.
