RS adjourned for the day over Babri Masjid issue

New Delhi, Dec 6: Members from Samajwadi Party (SP) and BJP rose to their feet and shouted slogans demanding that the demolition of Babri Masjid issue be taken up which was razed to the ground this day in 1992.

The proceedings of the house was stalled earlier in the day over the same issue.

SP member Amar Singh, BJP members S S Ahluwalia, Arun Shourie, Rudra Narain Pani and Maya Singh spearheaded the demand for taking up the Babri Masjid issue.

Deputy Speaker K Rehman Khan adjourned the house for the day.

As soon as the house re-assembled at 1400 hrs, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee rose to make a statement but was not allowed by the opposition members who drowned his attempt to speak.
