Tourism Promotion Board proposal dropped
New Delhi, Dec 5 (UNI) The Centre has dropped the proposal to set up a "National Tourism Development Board," the Lok Sabha was informed today.
Tourism and Culture Minister Ambika Soni said in reply to written questions that the issue was examined in detail by the Tourism ministry in consultation with the trade and industry associations.
"Taking all factors into consideration, it was felt that there is no balance of convenience in favour of constituting a Board for almost the same task which the Ministry is doing at present," she said.
" As such, the proposal of setting up of a National Tourism Development Board has been dropped," she said.
