Security tightened in AP; DJS gives bandh call
Hyderabad, Dec 5 (UNI) Security has been tightened throughout Andhra Pradesh in view of the 14th anniversary of the Babri Masjid demolition tomorrow.
Police sources said additional security measures had been taken at all famous temples, churches, other places of worship, mutts, crowded places and shopping malls.
Entry of pilgrims in noted temples would be allowed only after a thorough check with metal detectors.
Instructions were given to all police stations to closely watch lists of visitors staying in lodges and other guest houses here.
The sources said additional check-posts were set up in coastal areas to monitor movement of vehicles.
Rapid Action Force would be deployed in the Old City to prevent untoward incidents and track movement of banned organisations.
Observing the anniversary as 'Black Day' the Darsgah Jehad-o- Shahadat (DJS) has given a bandh call tomorrow. The DJS would organise a procession here demanding that the government construct a masjid at the same spot, its Vice-President M A Majid told UNI today.
