Ration rice worth Rs 25,000 seized

Chennai, Dec 5 (UNI) Police seized 50 bags of ration rice worth Rs 25,000 from a mini van in a city suburb today.

According to police during the routine vehicle check-up they intercepted the van and effected the seizure and arrested the driver Kasirajan (27) and the cleaner Pandyan (36).

They confessed that they were transporting the rice to Sulurpettah in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh from suburb Otteri.

Meanwhile, the food cell of CID police seized 22 bags of ration rice from a hideout at Mundiamman Nagar near suburb Red Hills.

Police said, acting on a tip off, a police party raided the hideout and effected the seizure and arrested one Senthurpandi in this connection.
