'Proposed Dec 12 bandh in UT unwarranted'

Puducherry, Dec 5: AIADMK Puducherry secretary A Anbazhagan MLA today said the proposed bandh called by the elected local body representatives on December 12 was 'unwarranted.' Addressing a press conference here, he said it was the AIADMK, which organised bandh in the Union Territory to prevail upon the administration to hold local body elections.

Charging the senior officials of the Public Works Department with laxity, Mr Anbazhagan said many overhead water tanks were constructed at several places without assessing the availability of water.He alleged that due to wrong enumeration carried out by the officials of the Civil Supplies Department on placing families under BPL category, several BPL families were given yellow cards while more than 5,000 government employees were provided with red colour cards meant for BPL families.
