NSF calls off highway blockade
Kohima, Dec 5: The Nagaland Student's Federation(NSF) sponsored 24-hour highway blockade from today has been called off following government's assurance to look into the Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC) scam.
The NSF took the decision yesterday after the government decided to set up a High Powered Committee to inquire into the NPSC scandal.
The NSF had been agitating against the government's 'lackadaisical' attitude to entrust a CBI inquiry into the year-long anomalies in NPSC.
The agitation was also being supported by the Eastern Nagaland Students' Federation (ENSF) and Nagaland Law Students' Federation (NLSF).
A joint statement issued by state chief secretary Lalhuma, NSF president V Phushika Aomi, ENSF president Y P Chillo and NLSF President T Lima said the proposed Committee would also study the eight-point proposals of the NSF for revamping the NPSC.
As per the agreement between the government and NSF, the latter had agreed not to insist for a CBI probe after the committee submits its report, official sources said.
