NSCN-IM flays PM statement on Manipur's territory

Kohima, Dec 5: The NSCN-IM today criticised the recent statement of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Manipur terming it as 'apathetic and brazen,' adding that people's sentiment should not be hurt when they aspire for identity.

The Prime Minister on Sunday told a rally at Kangla fort here that the territorial integrity of Manipur will stay and had ruled out the demand of integration of Naga inhabited areas at the cost of Manipur.

The outfit's spokesman Johnny Dilbug in a communique here today said the sensitivity of the issue which involved the sentiments and identity of people should be dealth judiciously.

He affirmed that "Naga people are not and will not claim any part or portion of land that belongs to other but are asserting what rightfully belongs to the Nagas since time immemorial". He said that Nagas would remain committed to all peaceful means and continue to struggle against all odds until what rightfully belong to the Nagas was "honourably restored".
