Myanmar reaffirms action against insurgents
New Delhi, Dec 5: Myanmar has reaffirmed the commitment that no part of its territory is used by insurgents and arms smugglers in carrying out undesirable activities against India, the Lok Sabha was informed today.
Minister of State for Home Affairs S Regupathy said in a written reply that this issue was discussed in the 12th National Level meeting at Home Secretary level between India and Mynmar held during September this year here.
He said among various issues of mutual concern including those related to security, drug trafficking and effective border management were discussed in detail at this meeting.
He said at the meeting the leader of the Indian delegation raised serious concern over the presence of Indian Insurgent Groups and arms smugglers who have been using Myanmar's territory for carrying out activities inimical to India's interest. The Indian delegation also requested the Government of Myanmar to take sustained action against them, he added.
