Kolkata, Dec 5 (UNI) Accusing social activist Medha Patkar of hindering the development of West Bengal, the CPI(M) today asked her to give up opposing the acquisition of land for Tata Motors' small car factory and talk to Staate Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee on the Singur issue.

'' She is blocking the state's development. Her action is similar to that of the leaders of developed countries who try to scuttle the progress of developing nations, '' CPI(M) state Secretary Biman Basu said.

Mr Basu said though he himself had not talked to Ms Patkar, the Chief Minister had few words with her. '' The Narmada Bachao Andolan leader should now hold talks with the Chief Minister over the whole issue,'' he added.

Ms Patkar, who has been camping in the state for the past few days, was intercepted by police twice on her way to Singur where prohibitory orders under section 144 Cr p c were clamped.

She set out for Singur this evening again after a day's stay at a guest house at Dankuni in Hooghly distric.

In a sharp reaction to Ms Patkar's appeal to the Chief Minister to come to Singur, Mr Basu shot back, '' who is she to ask the Chief Minister to go to Singur ? Rather she should come here and talk to the Chief Minister,'' he said.
