Maruti unveils Zen Estilo to strenghten compact car segment
New Delhi, Dec 5 (UNI) In a bid to enhance its presence in the compact car space, Maruti Udyog Ltd (MUL) today unveiled Estilo, an improved version of its popular model Zen.
The car available in eight colours comes in four variants with a price ranging from Rs 3.19 lakh to Rs 4.02 lakh (ex-showroom in Delhi).
Zen Estilo will be available to customers for Rs 3.19 lakh, while Zen Estilo Lxi will cost Rs 3.48 lakhs. Zen Estilo Vxi ABS is priced at Rs 4.02 lakh.
Targeting the young people, the company has worked upon the shape and space availabilty, enhanced the engine to 1,061 cc, and air conditioning of the model rechristined as Zen Estilo, meaning style in Spanish.
The model boasts of delivering 64 bhp and low-end torque of 84 nm at 3,500 rpm.
''The new Zen will appeal to the new India, just as the original Zen appealed to the India of the mid 1990s. It incorporates features and attributes that are uniquely suited to India and valued by Indian car buyers,'' MUL Managing Director Jagdish Khattar said.
With the launch the company expects to strengthen its position in the compact car segment where it also offers Alto and WagonR.
In preparation for the Zen Estilo, the company had withdrawn production of the previuos model eight months ago.
The new vehicle also offers power windows on all doors, five-door power locking, internally controlled outsider-rear-view-mirrors and speaker provision at all doors. It comes with an option of advanced features such as ABS and Airbag in the top-end variant.
The design of Estilo, like Swift and WagonR, has been done by its Japanese counterpart Suzuki Motor Corporation.
It has been introduced in eight colour including purple fusion, champagne beige, virgin blue and olive green.
The company sold over 7,60,000 units of previous Zen, which was launched in 1993. The figure includes exports of over 1,22,000 units.
