LMG-mounted security on Gyanwapi complex for tomorrow
Varanasi, Dec 5 (UNI) Taking into account security threat on the 14th anniversary of Ayodhya demolition tomorrow, security on the highly sensitive Gyanwapi-Kashi Vishwanath complex here has been streamlined with patrolling by Light Machine Gun (LMG) mounted vehicles.
''Mock security drills have been conducted on the complex to ensure any misadventure by terrorists or other anti-social elements is foiled. At least two LMG mounted gypsies have also been drafted into the three-tier security for patrolling duty on the yellow zone of the complex,'' Additional Police Superintendent (Gyanwapi Security) Jugal Kishore Tiwari said here today.
''We are taking no chances .... the entire security comprising Uttar Pradesh Police, PAC and CRPF personnel has been put on heightened alert in view of the security threat involved with December six,'' he added.
The bomb disposal teams, sniffer dog squads alongwith Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs) of CRPF and PAC commandos were also on their toes, Mr Tiwari added.
Security has also been tightened in other parts of the holy city especially in the religiously sensitive localities in the wake of 'Shaurya Diwas and Yaume Shahadat' calls given by Shiv Sena and Muslim organisations respectively for tomorrow.
