Kolkata based industrialist abducted from his Asom's residence

Silchar, Dec 5 (UNI) Kolkata based industrialist in Asom was kidnapped from his Asom's residence by some suspected ultras on gun points last night, police said today.

About five gunmen arrived in a four-wheeler and kidnapped Chanchal Modok (48), the proprietor of Gamaria Rubber garden, some 55 kms from here, from his south Asom's Karimganj residence, police added.

The abductors, sho posed as visitors to see the industrialist for some business purpose, shoved off Modok into the car and sped away towards the jungles of Mizoram.

Soon after the incident, police from both Karimganaj and Hailakandi districts launched operation in the adjoining area to trace him.

Modok, who hails from Salt Lake locality of Kolkata is known as pioneer of rubber plantation in this part of Asom. His mother Ruma Modak has appealed to the police to immediately take action to rescue her son.
