Kale, IATA to deliver e-freight in India
New Delhi, Dec 5: Kale Consultants, a leading provider of software solutions and outsourced services to travel and transportation industry, and the International Air Transport Association (IATA) today announced plans to work together for promotion of e-freight in India.
IATA e-freight is one of the five projects in its Simplifying the Business (StB) initiative. It aims to deliver air cargo shipments without any paper being produced or transported through the air cargo supply chain.
Kale will act as the nodal agency to coordinate activities required to implement e-freight across the country.
''India is a vibrant and rapidly growing economy with an expanding air cargo business,'' said IATA's global head of cargo Aleks Popovich. However, there are many barriers that India needs to overcome before it can truly be considered e-freight compliant. ''With the support of enterprising companies with cargo expertise such as Kale, we believe we can speed India's journey towards e-freight compliance,'' said Mr Popovich.
In 2004, IATA was mandated to lead an industry-wide programme designed to ease the transport of passengers and freight, and deliver 6.5 billion dollars in annual industry savings.
