Infighting among two NCP MPs intensifies in Kolhapur
Kolhapur, Dec 5 (UNI) Infighting among two MPs, Sadashivrao Mandlik and Nivedita Mane of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has come to fore again.
The controversy was sparked off over Mr Mandlik's statement against NCP Chief, Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar and Kolhapur District Central Co-operative Bank, of which Ms Mane is the present Chairman.
Mr Mandlik, while addressing a press conference here on Sunday said that Mr Pawar was making all efforts for the welfare of farmers and agriculture and expressed serious concern over the the non-performing assets of KDCC Bank and other related issues.
Ms Mane immediately issued a press release clarifying her stand.
She said, ''Mr Pawar has a big influence in the union government, on whose power, the government announced packages to sugar factories, co-operative banks, co-operative credit societies, besides seven per cent loan to farmers.'' Further referring to Mr Mandlik's charges on KDCC bank's non-performing assets, she said it was not correct and the functioning of the bank was going on rightly, including loan recovery and other issues. She assured of further progress shortly.
Elections to the post of Chairman and Vice-Chairman in the KDCC bank, presently ruled by the NCP-led front, is expected to be held within a week.
