Anju and her husband Bobby George came from Bangalore while Vikas, based in the US, reached here from North Carolina.
''Defending champions are always under pressure to retain the title but I will try my best to overcome it and perform well,'' said Anju on her arrival.
The lanky Kerala athlete, who won gold at the last Asian Games at Busan in 2002, also said, ''I have to live up to the expectations of countrymen, especially the large number of Indian residents here.'' Anju will start her campaign in women's long jump on December 10.
Vikas, the national record holder in discus throw, said, ''High velocity winds here may affect throwers but I will give my best.'' Vikas will enter the discus ring on December 10.
Meanwhile, 20 Indian athletes checked in at the Games village this morning. Tainted discus thrower Seema Antil, however, was not among them.
