Govt considering move to set up a Tribal University

New Delhi, Dec 5 (UNI) The Government today said it has a plan to set up a Tribal University but this proposal is yet to be finalised.

Minister of State for Human Resource Development D Purandeswari said in a written reply in the Lok Sabha that the HRD Ministry has invited comments from various Ministries in this regard and the comments are awaited from the Ministries concerned, except the Ministry of Tribal Affairs which had supported the proposal.

She said the main objective of the proposed University would be to facilitate and promote avenues of higher education and research facilities for the tribal population in India.
