During hearing of a petition, a division bench of the court comprising Justice Aftab Alam and Justice Samrendra Pratap Singh directed Mr D N Gautam to get the case investigated by deputy inspector general of police of Saran range under his supervision.

The petition was filed by one Harendra Rai who alleged that his mother Lalmuni Devi, a witness in a murder case pending against Mr Singh, was kidnapped by him and his associates on October 24, 2006. A case in this connection was lodged in a court of Chhapra.
