First DAD national athletic meet to begin tomorrow

Chandigarh, Dec 5 (UNI) The inaugural three-day All India DAD (Defence Accounts Department) Athletic Meet, will get underway here tomorrow.

Being hosted by the office of Principal Controller Defence Accounts (PCDA), Western Command, the Meet would witness participation from over 200 athletics from the defence accounts offices spread across the country.

The meet would be held in two different categories -- below 45 years and above 45 years for both men and women. Eight events including 100 metres, 200 metres, 400 metres and 4 x 100 metres races, shot put throw, discuss throw, long jump and high jump would be held during the Meet.

The 4x100 metres relay final would mark the closing ceremony of the meet on December 8.

Mr Gnan Prakash, Controller General of Defence Accounts would preside over the opening ceremony and Lt Gen Daljeet Singh, GOC-in-C, Western Command would be the special guest on the occasion. UNI JN PM KN1432
