Dawood aides get custody

Mumbai, Dec 5 (UNI) Barring Shakeel Ahmed Sheikh, alias Chhota Shakeel (36), the remaining eight deported associates of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim were today remanded to judicial custody till December 19.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate S Y Shisode sent Chhota Shakeel to police custody till December eight in another extortion case registered with Detection Crime Branch (DCB).

All the accused were deported from Dubai on November 21 this year in alleged extortion cases.

The investigating agency told the court that investigation of the eight accused had been completed and they may be sent to Judicial custody.

The accused have been identified as Shakeel Ahmed Sheikh alias Khota Shakeel (36), Mustafa Amin Gulam Mehmood (30), Sayyed Zaki Mehandi alias Vikram (39), Abdul Aziz Ibrahim Dholakiya (50), Salim Iqbal Quireshi alias Salim Foot (33), Jamil Haji Abdul Jabbar alias Baba alias Sanjay alias Akbar (31), Mohammed Sabir Suleman Sheikh (42), Arif Abubkar Sheikh (43) and Shahyidmiya Nathumiya Qureshi (33).

They have been booked under section 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons), 387 (extortion), and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.
