CBI seeks death sentence for Shibu Soren
New Delhi, Dec 5 (UNI) The CBI today sought the death penalty for JMM Chief Shibu Soren and four others in the Shashinath Jha murder case.
CBI counsel A K Singh urged Special CBI Judge B R Kedia to award the death sentence to Soren.
According to the CBI, Shibu's breach of Jha's trust falls in the rarest of rare category warranting the death sentence.
Shibu played a central role in the design, blurring the distinction between a principal agent and a conspirator, Mr Singh argued, citing the judgments in former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi's murder and the Parliament attack cases.
The conspirators were given the same sentence as the actual perpetrators in either of the cases, said the CBI.
