Capacity Building Programme in N.E

Shillong, Dec 5 (UNI) In order to increase employment opportunities in the North East, the Ministry of Development in the region has made arrangements for skill upgradation and training with the Centres of Excellence, like the IIM, Kolkata, DGET, New Delhi, IIT, Guwahati, Central Institute of Plastic Engineering&Technology (CIPET), Chennai, National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Kolkata, The Energy and Research Institute (TERI), New Delhi, and the Toy Making Institute, Kolkata.

A significant programme for training in Information Technology has also been taken up.

A major programme to enable small individual entrepreneurs and self help groups to attain self-reliance has been launched through the North Eastern Development Financial Corporation (NEDFi) and the North Eastern Regional Agricultural Marketing Corporation (NERAMAC).

It is proposed to take advantage of the strengths of the Region in Horticulture, Handlooms and Handicrafts.
