BSE Sensex touches historic 14,000 mark

Mumbai, Dec 5: In just a span of 26 days, Sensex rose from 13,000 mark to an euphoric 14,000 mark.The markets opened strong on Tuesday and the Sensex crossed the 14,000-level for the first time in its history.

After the flat end on Monday, buying was seen in the auto, IT, metals and pharma stocks. At 9:58 am, the Sensex was up 154 points at 14028 and the Nifty was up 31 points at 4032.

Tata Motors, Reliance Energy, Ranbaxy, Hindalco, Nalco, Satyam, BPCL and Infosys were major gainers today in the morning session.
