BKU (L) mulls rail, road blockades to press for demands

Moga, Dec 5 (UNI) Bhartiya Kisan Union (Lakhowal) state executive body today at its meeting decided to convene Punjab Kisan Panchayat here on December 19 to finalise the ''direct action'' like rail, road blocakdes, to pressurise the state government for the farmers demands.

The meeting expressed concern over the ''failure'' of Punjab government to implement the election manifesto and promises specially towards the farmers, non-payment of paddy bonus arrears of Rs 2200 crore, failure to provide remunerative price of sugarcane and the low MSP of cotton as compared to southern and western states.

After the meeting Ajmer Singh Lakhowal and Manjit Singh Kadian President and General Secretary, BKU (L), said the direct action could be of blocking road traffic and Rail Roko.
