BHEL to invest in Mizoram
Aizawl, Dec 04: The Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) hasforwarded a proposal to invest in Mizoram's power sector, officialsources here today said.
According to sources the last cabinet meeting stated that BHEL'soffer to invest in both thermal and hydropower projects had beenforwarded to the government.
''We are examining the investment proposal of undertaking and thegovernment is in favour of clinching a deal among Centre-Mizoram-BHELpartnership to meet the power demands'', state planning board officialssaid.
Earlier BHEL, a major producer of turbines and high powergenerators had evinced interest in the power scenario in North Easternstates.
It has already undertaken a 12 MW hydel project in the state incollaboration with Mecon, an MNC, to tap the water flow of the hillystream of Serlui near here, sources said adding that it is likely to becompleted by 2007.
